There are several myths about Pain:
- Being in pain is normal,
- Patients should suffer in silence,
- It is easy to become addicted,
- and the classic “if there is no pain, then there is no gain”.
Our mission at Metropolitan Pain Consultants is to dispel these myths and reduce or eliminate your pain. Our goal is to restore your ability to live and work as you desire. We strive to provide each patient with state of the art care in a compassionate and professional environment. At Metropolitan Pain Consultants, every patient is treated as an individual with a unique set of problems requiring a tailored therapeutic approach.
Sometimes patients are shuffled back and forth between primary care physicians, specialists, and therapists of all kinds in search of a solution to their pain problems. Interventional Pain Management can be a useful alternative for patients who have exhausted conservative treatment methods including physical therapy, chiropractic treatments and medical management without success, and may be the solution chronic pain sufferers are looking for. Interventional Pain Management is a specialty that bridges the gap between conservative therapy and invasive open surgery.
According to the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Interventional Pain Management is a “discipline of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of pain related disorders.” Interventional pain medicine utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, in which a team of health care professionals works together, to provide a full range of treatments and services for patients suffering from chronic and/or acute pain.
We understand that your pain is different than anyone else’s and so is our approach to pain management. We offer complete, individualized programs of advanced pain management techniques to maximize patient outcomes. Decreasing your pain and its impact on your personal and professional life is our first and foremost concern.
Metropolitan Pain Consultants aims to:
- Advance your functional ability
- Optimize your quality of life
- Improve your emotional well-being
Your Pain is Our Concern
We maintain correspondence with your referring and /or primary care physicians regarding your care by using electronic medical records. We work closely with other specialists including orthopedicians, neurosurgeons, chiropractors, psychologists and physical therapists to whom you may be referred according to your medical needs.
State of the Art Technology
At Metropolitan Pain Consultants, we treat your pain by reducing the inflammation or desensitizing the painful nerves, spinal discs, joints or muscles responsible for your symptoms. We accomplish this by combining medications and physical modalities with precise x-ray guided injections and ultrasound guided injections to avoid additional radiation. Injection therapies to block pain such as epidurals, selective nerve root blocks or facet blocks offer alternatives to major surgery with almost no complications. Implantable medication devices and spinal cord stimulators allow patients to control their therapy through their own personal remote control. Our interventional procedures are image-guided, using C-arms and Fluoroscopy enabling precise placement of medications.
Medical charts, X-rays and CT scan and MRI Reports are electronically filed enabling easy access by the staff at any time and can be faxed to referring physicians, primary care physicians, case managers and others, usually within 24 hours of the patients visit. All of our procedures are performed on an outpatient basis in a relaxed and pleasant environment. Our facilities are staffed by specially trained personnel and equipped with the most sophisticated technology. At Metropolitan Pain Consultants, we believe that our compassionate and expert care will provide you with a beneficial and rewarding experience.
