Richard Kang, MD is an Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist who maintains Double Board Certification in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is the co-founder of Metropolitan Pain Consultants.
Dr. Richard Kang completed an Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons where he also held appointments as Graduate Clinical Educator. His training in Anesthesiology occurred in Baltimore, Maryland at the University of Maryland where he served as Chief Resident and was awarded the distinguished Robert D. Dripps, MD Memorial Award, for outstanding graduate resident in Anesthesiology.
Dr. Richard Kang’s medical career began in New York City where he graduated from the renowned Regis High School with Honors. He then proceeded upstate to Binghamton University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the American University of Caribbean.
Dr. Kang’s Expertise
Dr. Richard Kang’s areas of clinical expertise include treatment of neck and back pain of musculoskeletal and spinal in origin, neuropathic pain and cancer pain. Along with utilizing a full complement of pharmacological treatments, Dr. Richard Kang also performs a variety of interventional procedures such as endoscopic laser spine surgery, epidural steroid injections, facet, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency lesioning, sympathetic blocks,peripheral nerve blocks and fully implantable therapies. In order to keep abreast of the latest treatment modalities in pain management, Dr. Richard Kang maintains an active membership in the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, American Pain Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Medical Society of New Jersey, Hudson County Medical Society and the Interventional Spine Intervention Society.
